Senior Structural Engineer (Oil & Gas Operator) - Kuala Lumpur
Job Requirements:
- Have 15 years experience in a similar function in the Oil & Gas industry, with considerable experience in Upstream development projects.
- Have experience working with operating companies would be advantageous
- Graduate S1 in Engineering (Civil/Structural discipline) or equivalent
- Personal attribute: Good communication, meticulous, able to work across different cultures.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
- Member of a multifunctional project team responsible for the structural design activities for the central processing platform for the Upstream development.
- Engineering through FEED transition to detailed design, ensuring an optimum, fit-for-purpose design meeting all functional requirements for safety, environment, operability, regulatory / permitting, etc.
- Remit / accountability includes: Review of substructure structural and naval architecture work and supervision of the contractors design team through FEED transition into detailed design.
- Maintain positive and effective working relationship with structural team, other upstream Leads, coordinators and project work teams, including Process, Mechanical, Operations, Technical Services and Business Services
- Engage internal experts as required to assure the structural design and coordinate workshops for VIP’s, lessons-learned, best practices and assurance and governance processes.
- Senior role in directing the activities substructure Detail Design contractors for all activities under the Lead Structural remit.
- Review design engineering deliverables ensuring they are of consistently high quality; recommendations are safe, technically sound and cost effective.
- Play a major role in the design assurance as part of the larger Upstream Project team to ensure successful phase gate Peer Review outcomes.
- Seek out and apply best practices and lessons learned from other projects.
- Ensure the delivery of quality engineering documents and procured materials to meet the project schedule.
- Unsure correct implementation of the Bases of Design, specifications and standards as they pertain to the Lead Structural remit.
- Ensure designs meet project technical, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements, and that the designs meet project objectives of operability, maintainability, reliability, and life cycle cost.
- Effectively manage and control change. Maintain effective communications with the Lead Structural Engineer to ensure the free flow of information within the structural group and between work groups in order to minimize the impact of proposed design modifications, schedule changes and technical interface issues.
